Source of Biden’s words:

&^&^&^&^&^&^&

The information that the candidate for the US presidency, Joe Biden, during the debate during the election campaign, said about „totalitarian regimes in Poland and Hungary” was widely commented on in Poland. But time to ask what the origins of this event are.

Of course, it is known that speeches or preparation for debates are in the hands of staffers, people who cut their teeth on election campaigns, and Biden himself is not a novice, because 48 years in first-league politics, not to mention the fact that he was a vice president.
So the belief that there is a „regime” in Poland, and in addition „totalitarian”, is the general belief of the team that can win the elections in a little more than two weeks.

I do not want to write about how terrible it is and to tear clothes because of it, because firstly it will do nothing, and secondly, the fact that the Democrats will be hostile to Poland under the conservative rule was known even before the 2015 parliamentary elections of United The right has won. This was known because in preparation for the 2015 election in Poland, the American media market was flooded with hundreds of texts preparing public opinion, as well as the opinion of the government and the commentators’ elite, for the upcoming elections and for the possible victory of PiS.

The articles looked similar, as if they had come from the same pen. They were written in a hysterical tone, they spoke about the threat to democracy and about Poland’s departure from the progress it had made after 1989. They did not just quote each other and a small group of members of the opposition today and their friends in the West. American readers were scared of the return of fascism in Europe

The then US administration was also hostile to the power of Law and Justice in Poland, so there is no reason to expect a former vice president in that administration to suddenly change this attitude. In addition, the situation in 2015 and 2016 was skillfully manipulated by the then Polish ambassador to the USA*, who made good use of not only his contacts, but also a very exclusive place of residence: the residence of the Polish ambassador to the USA is adjacent to the residence of the US vice president by a FENCE …

It was known in Washington that this ambassador* made excellent use of the relations he had established with his neighbor and invited him to events at the residence of the Polish ambassador without the consent of the State Department. How? He was inviting him as a neighbor, not as the vice president representing the US government. Thus, he managed to jump OVER the diplomatic protocol intelligently.

Of course, the sympathy between the neighbors translated into the sympathy for the views of the neighbor, which the Polish ambassador used well. The presence of the vice president additionally made the much more prominent guests accept invitations and appear at parties. In this way, the ambassador representing the government of the Republic of Poland, both before and after the 2015 elections, managed to impose and maintain the opposition’s narrative as well as obtain public support from the US administration for himself.

It was in this atmosphere that at the celebration of the Constitution on May 3, 2016, the then chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Republic of Poland, Judge Rzepliński, was greeted with applause at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland* and told the American guests gathered there about the constitutional crisis in Poland and the illegal takeover of judicial power by the right. The actions of the ambassador strengthened the conviction that this was a generally prevailing opinion and that the descriptions of the constitutional attack were most accurate.

The building of the Polish embassy in Washington

A similar scenario, with a similar effect, also took place in the European Union after the 2015 elections: the President of the European Council 2014-2019, Donald Tusk, shaped the narrative of Poland in the EU, supported by the appeals of Polish total opposition to European institutions, urging Poland to be punished for allegedly violating human rights and constantly heating up the atmosphere of hysteria and moral panic.

The specifically understood „human rights issue” as simply the demand for privileging lobbyist pressure groups describing themselves as LGBT additionally shaped the American recipient’s view of reality in Poland. The day after the TV speech mentioned at the beginning, Donald Tusk supported his candidacy for the presidency of the USA and thus praised his criticism of Poland and Hungary by publishing his photo with Joe Biden on the official Twitter account @donaldtuskEPP with the words „MAKE EU-US BONDS STRONG AGAIN” ! „

JOE and DONALD

Thus, the supporters of the total opposition can congratulate themselves, Ambassador Schnepf and Mr. Tusk on a job well done, because thanks to their efforts a man who may be the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the United States has an image of Poland in his head that does not encourage its defense. You wanted this?

How to call your conduct, total opposition?
There are a few words in Polish that describe such action.
We all know them

Word from the editor /np/

At that time, the Polish ambassador to the USA was Ryszard Schnepf, nominated by his friend Radek Sikorski, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Schnepf is a co-founder of the lodge in Poland – B’nai B’rith. He became famous, among other things, for the fact that parents and children attending a Polish school in the US capital refused to organize a Christmas meeting in 2012 in the embassy room. But a dozen or so days earlier at the ambassador’s residence, the writer Anne Applebaum – privately the wife of Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, promoted her books. The strangest thing, however, is that this man, who had reached the top in holding state positions in Poland, was flooded with strangers that he and his family were the targets of a „campaign of harassment, slander and lies” launched by the far-right media over his Jewish origins.

And what do you think about it?
