Nazi propaganda poster used during the Women’s Strike. As part of the ongoing women’s strike, one of the artists, Julia Mirny, prepared a poster to support the idea of ​​the protests. However, she used another poster for this purpose – an expression of Nazi propaganda. On the „Occupied Krakow” fanpage there was a post in which the profile leader referred to Julia Mirna’s posters, depicting five women visible in the train window, wearing masks with a characteristic red lightning and the signature „Women’s Strike”. As it turns out, this is a reference to the old Nazi propaganda poster, which was supposed to present „satisfied Polish women and girls on their way to work in the Reich”, where „their joyful expectations will not bring disappointment”. In fact, most of the women at the time were sent to hard labor in Germany, which often ended in a tragedy – a cruel death from exhaustion or rapes and unwanted pregnancies. – Did the artist who used this poster not see the inscription „We’re going to the Reich” and feel the clearly negative and false message of the illustration? Personally, I think that even in art there should be boundaries that simply cannot be crossed.
